Homework – Part 2, Math Resources

In my previous post Homework – Part 1 , I had mentioned that parents need a lot of resources to help their children with homework and in this post I am trying to share some math resources.

I had also shared an example in my previous post (read here) , about my 4th grader’s homework and that I will be looking for  worksheets on decimal addition, subtraction and multiplication for her to practice at home. So how do you find worksheets?

To find worksheets for decimal operations, I simply google “ free decimal addition worksheets” and a bunch of resources show up. I go through a few and get some good ones from http://www.math-aids.com/Decimals/.

Similarly, take a look at the timed tests your child brings back from school, you know the ones with 50 or 100 problems for addition, subtraction, etc and usually timed for 5 or 10 minutes. If you think that your child might need to practice these facts at home to get better, use the free sites listed below to get good quality worksheets.

https://www.mathworksheets4kids.com (has some free worksheets)

Khan academy ( https://www.khanacademy.org ) is a very popular and another free resource with videos and quizzes grouped by math concepts. It is such a vast resource that it demands a detailed post of its own.

A couple other resources available but not free are,

1. Challenge Math online at Noetic Learning – read my post here on this resource

2. Art of problem solving (https://artofproblemsolving.com ) is a also a really good source for challenging problems, more useful for middle schoolers competing in Math Counts..

Use  any or all of the resources mentioned above and you can see an improvement in your child’s math skills.
